These stores sell lettuce planting trays for both indoors and outdoors plants. You can also find them on Amazon or Ebay. The cost of lettuce seed starting trays will depend on the size and quality of the product.

How to choose lettuce seedling trays?

There are different types of trays for growing lettuce available in the market. Choosing the right size of lettuce seed trays is very important. Buy lettuce growing trays that are made of plastic or wood, which will retain moisture well but allow air circulation around the roots.

Choose lettuce seed starting trays with drainage holes which allow excess water to drain away from the roots and avoid root rot caused by too much moisture around them. Make sure that your potting mix has good drainage properties so that excess water can be removed from around.

If you use too small of a tray, the roots will grow around the edges and not develop properly. If you use too large of a tray, the roots will grow up and out of the potting medium before they have had time to develop properly.

How to starting lettuce in seed trays?

You can grow lettuce indoors or outdoors, depending on your region and when you are growing lettuce in seed trays. But if you want to get a head start on the season, try sowing lettuce seeds in trays indoors.

The advantage of starting lettuce indoors is that it gives you a longer time frame for raising transplants and also allows you to get a jump-start in the growing season. Succession planting allows you to have a continuous supply of lettuce throughout the season.

Step 1: Fill lettuce growing trays with potting soil until about 1/4 inch deep. Sprinkle seeds over top of soil, so that they are covered with 1/4 inch of soil when all seeds are planted. Cover seeds with a fine layer of potting soil or vermiculite and water gently until moist but not wet.

Step 2: Keep trays for growing lettuce evenly moist by misting daily or by placing the trays in a plastic bag with holes poked in it, do not let water pool on top of soil.

Step 3: Place lettuce seed trays on a heating mat set at 70 degrees F (21 C) and leave it there for 14 days while the seeds germinate. Remove any moldy seedlings that develop during this time period and replace them with new ones if needed.

Step 4: Transplant the remaining seedlings into individual pots using potting soil, spacing them 1 inch apart from each other. Water them well and place them under led grow lights until they are ready to go outside or into larger containers for transplanting in your garden bed.
